We are a licensed Christian counseling practice serving Birmingham and Central Alabama. We offer compassionate, personalized care for individuals, couples and families navigating life’s difficult seasons.

Our approach is rooted in Biblical truth and whole-person care. We don’t simply manage symptoms. We help clients uncover the deeper wounds driving their pain, charting a path toward lasting freedom.

Our counselors are licensed professionals who bring both clinical training and lived experience to every session. We’ve been there ourselves, and that shapes how we serve and support you. In a safe space. With honesty, but without judgment. Every step of the way.

While our foundation is faith-based, we welcome and serve clients of all backgrounds — including agnostics and nonbelievers — without preaching or pressure. You don’t have to share our beliefs to benefit from our care.

Our sessions are one-on-one, and in-person whenever possible, because true healing happens only through genuine human connection. In your first session, we’ll take time to understand not just the presenting issue, but the full picture of who you are — and what you’re fighting to overcome. From there, we’ll work with you to define an individualized path forward — one that’s honest about the challenges ahead, and confident about what’s possible.

We also recognize that healing rarely ever happens in isolation. Addiction impacts families and friends. Trauma strains marriages. Grief reshapes identity. Our counselors are trained to identify those connections, and address them with care.

Unbound Grace was founded by John Steakley, whose own journey through addiction and recovery — detailed in his book Unbound Grace — has shaped the mission and heart of our practice. John’s 10-week devotional, Rhythms of Recovery, walks individuals through the process of building healthy spiritual and emotional rhythms. That same spirit of honest, grace-filled restoration defines every service we offer.
